Volunteer Opportunities

Dog Walkers

Need a work out? Volunteers are needed to provide daily exercise, stimulation, play and lots of TLC for the dogs. Volunteers can also assist in weekly off-leash playgroups for the dogs after the shelter closes.

Kennel Buddies

If you are an early morning riser this is the volunteer spot for you. Kennel buddies walk dogs in the early morning hours while the kennel attendants are cleaning the real life rooms.

Grooming

Do you like to help with "make-overs"? If so this is definitely the calling for you! Volunteers are trained to bathe and groom dogs that are going on the floor for adoption. They also help with special cases when dogs come into the shelter in extremely matted, neglected condition.

Customer Service

Volunteers are trained to assist visitors in the lobby of the shelter and adoption areas. Adoption ward volunteers assist customers as they look at the available dogs, navigate the adoption areas and remind customers to follow our safety rules.

Lost & Found

Good at detective work? Be a lost and found volunteer and help customers searching for their lost dog, answer questions, give suggestions on other ways they can search for their missing dog.

Adoption Counselors

What could be more satisfying than helping an adopter find their new best friend? Adoption counselors assist with introductions and interactions between customers, families and pets with the optimal goal of finding that perfect match.

Shelter Ambassadors

The ambassadors represent the shelter and promote adoptions by helping with onsite and offsite adoption events. They also assist at our twice a month adoption event at the shelter - Mingle with the Mutts.

Media Ambassadors

If you have ever wished to be a star you can assist shelter staff and senior volunteers by showcasing our dogs on television or radio opportunities.

Photography Volunteers

Professional and amateur photographers help by taking amazing photos of our dogs for the website. Photo team helpers bring the dogs to the photographer for a picture and help to get the best possible photo of the dog for the website.

Behavior

Each dog must pass a behavior evaluation before going to the adoption floor. If you are interested in behavior and training, or have prior experience, you can assist staff during the behavioral assessment, or help trainers in our free class for new adopters.

Clerical

Assist with scanning applications and paperwork into our computer system. Follow up phone calls and other phone work.
