Meet Carmen

Carmen is a slobbering gentle giant who just wants your approval and your attention. From the moment she meets you and gains your approval, her nub of a tail will be wiggling from joy! Carmen is another lucky pooch who is living a better life thanks to Friends of the Shelter. She was born with eyelid and eye gland abnormalities which resulted in marked discomfort and difficulty seeing. This caused discomfort and if untreated, would have led to damage to the eyes. Thanks to our shelter surgery team and Friends of the Shelter, she was able to receive the delicate and costly procedures and recovery time needed and is now well on the mend with sutures and ecollar removed and the vet's green-light to find her permanent home although Carmen will likely require a daily eye ointment forever (her Mastiff mix breed is predisposed to dry eye, a lack of tear production). Carmen loves to be right by your side and will seek comfort from you. She knows sit, down and paw and is crate trained and housebroken. She walks quite nicely on leash despite her size and strength. She enjoys being around other dogs, but is perfectly content to be your one and only.
